Plaza Premium Group has opened two new lounges at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. The company has launched both a standard Plaza Premium Lounge and a higher-end Plaza Premium First lounge. The standard lounge has a capacity for 98 guests, while the First lounge can accommodate 51.
Lounge Locations and Access
The new facilities are located airside on the third floor of the airport's Concourse G, near Gate G. Passengers can book paid entry directly through the Plaza Premium website.
Access is also available via certain travel cards. The standard lounge is accessible to holders of the American Express Platinum card due to a partnership between Amex and Plaza Premium. As of the report's publication, the standard lounge was not yet listed on the Priority Pass website, and it was unclear if Priority Pass members could pay to upgrade to the First lounge area.
The Plaza Premium First Concept
The Bangkok opening marks an expansion of the Plaza Premium First lounge brand. This luxury concept was first introduced in Hong Kong in 2018. The group has since opened similar First lounges in several other international airports.
The report included a list of locations where the Plaza Premium First concept is available.
Context and Other Travel News
The lounge announcement was part of a broader travel news roundup. The source article also covered a limited-time bonus offer on purchasing Virgin Atlantic loyalty points and a Marriott Bonvoy points auction for a Dublin festival package.
Virgin Atlantic has launched a new 70% bonus for buying Virgin Points, matching the highest bonus offer ever seen. The annual purchase limit is now 400,000 Virgin Points, reset for the year, meaning you could buy 680,000 points with the bonus. The cost is £15 per 1,000 points, with the bonus tiered: 20% for 5,000-39,000 points, 40% for 40,000-79,000, 60% for 80,000-124,000, and 70% for 125,000-400,000. Buying 400,000 points for £6,000, which becomes 680,000 points, works out at 0.88p each, which is exceptionally cheap for a direct miles purchase. The offer runs to 4th October. Virgin Points can be redeemed on SkyTeam partners like Aeromexico, Air France, Delta, KLM, and Korean Air, or for events at The O2.
The Marriott Moments website is auctioning a package for the Dublin Fringe Festival, ending at 4pm today. The minimum bid is 75,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. The package includes a two-night stay at citizenM Dublin St. Patrick’s on September 18th-20th, welcome drinks, breakfast for two on Saturday and Sunday, and admission for two to curated festival performances. The hotel alone would cost €550 for those two nights without breakfast, and a standard redemption would cost 116,000 points, making the 75,000-point bid a potential bargain.
