Adelaide Airport Upgrades Passenger Experience with Amadeus Technology
Adelaide Airport is set to improve the passenger experience with the introduction of advanced self-service technology from Amadeus, including self-service check-in and bag drop units, and a move to cloud-based passenger processing technology.

Adelaide Airport, Australia's fifth busiest airport, is poised to significantly enhance the passenger experience with the rollout of a range of advanced self-service technologies from Amadeus. The airport will install over 50 Amadeus Seamless Bag Drop S7 Air and S7 Air Hybrid units, which offer increased passenger servicing flexibility and a unique side-loading design for easier loading of bags and large items.
Self-Service Technology Upgrade
The new bag drop units will be complemented by approximately 80 Amadeus Seamless Kiosks, providing passengers with a fast and simple self-serve check-in experience. This upgrade is expected to reduce queues and improve connectivity for airlines operating at the airport.
Cloud-Based Passenger Processing Technology
As part of the upgrade, the airport will also move its passenger processing technology to the cloud, adopting Amadeus' Airport Cloud Use Service (ACUS). This will allow airlines to operate from any check-in and boarding counter and easily access systems from the cloud, making it easier to launch new routes and improving overall airline operations.
The following technologies will be implemented as part of the upgrade:
| Technology | Description |
|---|---|
| Amadeus Seamless Bag Drop S7 Air | Full self-service or agent-staffed bag drop unit with side-loading design |
| Amadeus Seamless Bag Drop S7 Air Hybrid | Full self-service or agent-staffed bag drop unit with side-loading design |
| Amadeus Seamless Kiosks | Self-serve check-in kiosks for fast and simple passenger check-in |
| Amadeus ACUS | Cloud-based passenger processing technology for improved airline operations |
Amadeus, noted that the transformation will deliver a flexible foundation for passenger services based on the latest self-service innovations, improving the overall airport experience for travelers.
The airport will also adopt a new system for message exchange between airlines and its baggage infrastructure, ensuring synchronization and replacing the traditional Teletype messaging standard. This upgrade is expected to have a significant impact on the passenger experience at Adelaide Airport, providing a more efficient, connected, and innovative travel experience.
